A few more words for Liu Di's case

Before I came to work, I had gone through briefly the responses to my yesterday's poster. Exactly as I had expected, the opponents failed to refute the main points I had raised in my article and prove to the public that they were groundless worries. Instead, they showed what they were most good at: libeling and insulting me by twisting my words and digging up the mean intention hidden in my article. Apart from that, as always, they shouted some slogans at their highest volumes.
It is just a waste of time to refute this nonsense. For example, it is far beyond my comprehension how Wei Bei, having spent so much time on browsing the Internet, could ever write that kind of "article" heavily relying on abusive languages borrowed from Yi Daqi. What he has actually proven to the public is how little he understands my essay On "Democracy Granted Generously from above", if he has read it at all. Anyone with normal capability of comprehension who has read that essay knows that I have never, ever said that a democratic society could be created solely by the rulers. Instead, I merely pointed out a simple fact that democracy could never be achieved through the traditional way of "struggle". Such "struggles" could only bring great setbacks to the whole society, as had been demonstrated by history so many times.
Neither could I understand how an adult could indulge himself in such baby talk. According to Wei, the more people join in this struggle, the more chance we stand to win. Fair enough. But I just wonder why there was a massacre in 1989. Was it because there were no masses of enough sizes? How could a grown-up write this kind of "article"? Unthinkable!
Of course, this is nothing compared with the dirt poured onto Sui Bian's head. Any rational civilized person can feel the soundness of his arguments. If you disagree with him, fine. But first, please prove to the public that we DO NOT need to know the intention of Liu's family before taking any action which has potentially detrimental effects on them. Second, please show the evidence that Liu is not involved in any criminal case. Also, please prove to the public that there is absolutely no need for us to find out the minimal truth about this case before we all plunge into it. Very unfortunately, many people seemed to occupy themselves with only one thing: labeling Sui Bian as a Communist spy!
Are we discussing how to rescue Ms Liu most efficiently with the least side-effect here? Or are we just competing to show who the bravest hero is? Alternatively, is Liu's case just another excellent opportunity for us to hold a denunciation session (dou zheng hui) so as to round up all the spies who have successfully infiltrated into this forum?
What kind of "non-cynicism" this spoof is! It really makes me sick!
Well, this is not what I really want to say. It is not worthwhile to waste my intelligence arguing with those "non-cynical" people. I am worried about the safety of those guys like Zhao Dagong, Dong Hai Yi Xiao and so forth. I slept very little last night. After long thinking, I came to the conclusion that a writer's safety is proportional to his fame. The more famous he is, the less probably the Chinese authorities persecute him in the most barbarian way. There are quite a few examples to illustrate this point. As we all know, Ms Dai Qing, Ms. Ding Zilin, Mr. Wang Lixiong, Mr. Liu Xiaobo and Ms He Qinglian have avoided down-right persecutions so far. Of course, they are harassed and frequently put on close watch, but at least the authorities have not just thrown them in jail without bothering to give an explanation as they did with Ms Liu Di.
So it seems to me that it is the obligation of us overseas Chinese to help those guys like Zhao Dagong, Lao Xiao and so forth become as famous as possible. Those who have access to publish houses or magazines or newspapers etc should help them publish as many articles as possible. Once they enjoy enough publicity, they will become relatively safe. Then even if they were arrested in the end, the worst might just be deported to America.
Based on this consideration, I appeal to people with connections with the media: Please help those guys become famous! I also urge Dagong, Lao Xiao etc to send their works to overseas magazines and newspapers. Better still, they should consider publishing a few books to be sold in the West. Also, they should try Ms He Qinglian's approach and get at least one book published at home. To a large degree, a book published in the Mainland is far more influential than that published abroad.
Finally, I apologize for writing this poster in English. I will translate it into Chinese once I get home.
