about language
Now, where did you find me to have confused language with words? I said "written language" and "oral language", was it not clear? Or you don't think written language is language? Besides, you have to provide evidence on why language took precedence of the practice of using physical objects as mnemonics or for other purposes. At least give me a reasonable account of how sounds could be used before physical objects to reliably convey certain notions.
The physical objects mediate human activities. This should not be a mystery. The totem of tribes played such a role. And these totems are able to carry particular activities to next generation. They are not language yet, since they lack the structure of language, the subject, the predicate etc.
You yet have to answer my questions.
