Who said they didn’t pay close attention? They probably
did. But only for the purpose of their fighting with the
mainland communist regime. True, a totalitarian communist
regime is not compatible with any democratic ideals, but
Taiwan’s presidential election carries more significance
if viewed as an experiment of a democratic system
functioning in China. Those pseudo pro-democracy
activists failed to view the election in the latter sense.
The correlation between human genes and political
systems? That sounds too deep.
