Because it is based on the assumption that 亲民党 wished to give up halfway so as to ensure Lian Zhan would be elected. In other words, Song Chuyu would be happy to give up the post of Vice-President. It’s totally impossible!
That’s the shortcoming of the American system . If they used British system, they would not have this kind of difficulty at all.
Incidentally, Xiao Ji said something advocating American system, only showing that he knew very little about European political systems. But I do not have time to deal with this issue at all.
