Just like if you are a Harvard MIT or Beida grad, you are an automatic genius? If your school is in this association, it is automatically a great school? If you think Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa st., Syracuse, Pittsburgh, are acadenically better than Rockefeller, Dartmouth, Notra Dame, Georgetown, tufts, Georgia tech, Amherst, or Swarthmore, I would say you are out of your mind. We are not talking about playing basketball or football here, are we?

US news ranking is not perfect but it is one of the most complete and most widely recognizable and accepted ranking system for US universities. Reputation score here used to be called academic reputation. If the ranking does not make sense to somebody, this score is close enough to reflect school's "academic archievement". 3.3/5.0 would only get Rutgers around 75 among schools with phD programs and clearly out of 120 if you count in the four year colleges. Maybe the US news ranking is too commercialized. But if Rutgers could buy their professors with money, how could you be so sure that they did not buy their way into the AAU or buy them in a higher place in the rankings? I think they already did.
