it might be real, but not hard evidence. B can cause C doesn't mean A can't cause C. how can you rule out A? that's the arguement. the long diliberation means that there aren't hard scientific evidences to prove/disprove guilty. In a jury trial, evidence is always the key since they are present to laymen, jurors. it is judge's role to control the admission for evidence; testaments are always attacked, either by attacking personality/credit of witness or phisical/medical condition or whatever you can name it. that's the reason that forensic science is important. Watch CSI?
