Bloody Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge were the nick name of two moutain areas next to each other in the "punchbowl area" close to the 38th parallel. The fight for these Hills was fought in August,September and October 1951. The ridge was held by North Korean Defenders. The major American unit involved in the attack was the 2nd Infantry Division. The Bloody ridge was eveatually taken by Americans in Semptember and HeartBreak Ridge fell in October. The causualties on American and S. Korean side was around 3000 and N. Korean lost about 15,000.
