It is very interesting that we are looking at the same thing and have the same thoughts on the root of the issues, yet we reach different conclusions.
You analyse is right on the point, for the most part. But right now no other countries could replace China as the producer of labor-intensive products, not for the short term. The inflation has been evident in the US. since last year. A trade war with China could bring out inflation for the mass here in the US. I doubt politicians (be it Mr. Bush) are courageous enough to take the action. Even Americans are smart enough and steadfast to shoulder the sacrifice because China will lose much more in this trade war, they may find this time CCP has the backbone to stand up against them. It is not the CCP has any love for the country, but rather it is for their own survival. China has to control the inflation, otherwise she may go under tomorrow. You should know the reasons since you have been preaching about how bad Chinese banking system fares.
Anyway, this is as far as I can talk here. I have no background or privy to any inside information. Rather I am afraid to be part of the dormino effect that leads to the collapse of China. Regardless of my personal conviction, I still hope the disaster can be avoided somehow.
