It depends very much on what you throw into the mix, the specific environment of the setting, and how much time you allow.
I didn't really say it is impossible for life forms to emerge in such a short period of time, but nevertheless it's not very probable either.
The "origin of life" is still a mystery for the community of biologists at large but scientists are trying to replicate the conditions under which life forms emerged.
My conjecture is that your textbook have mentioned some necessary conditions for life to occur, but these are not sufficient conditions to explain why it happened in such a relatively short time frame.
I'm not particularly interested in tracking the progress of scientific work in this area, so I'm afraid you'll have to look it up for yourself.
