一个月前俺说过，一个贫穷落后的国家，民主只能导致社会主义，
并举两例：(一)印度、(二)美国在五十年代不支持越南普选。古迷
先生问第二条消息出处。俺只是记得是在PBS电视节目看的。
上两周，俺说南越的吴总统是中国人的朋友（据说老布什是中国人民
的老朋友，俺不知道“中国人民”是啥玩意，所以只说老吴是中国人
的朋友），认真先生又让俺说个仔细，其实，这也是在同一节目看来
的。
在PBS网页，俺终于找到这部记录片的稿子----天下事难不倒非共产党
员嘛。
美国国务卿杜勒斯说：“我不相信吴总统同意进行大选，我们应该支
持他”。
老吴的总统府有条通往唐人街的地下通道。他兄弟俩政变时躲进了华
人的教堂，出来后被枪杀。世上许多首都都有唐人街，哪个国家元首
把地下通道修往那里？又在生死关头想到要华人救命？汉奸们曲线反
华，与胡志明(玩弄中国妇女)、黎笋(驱赶百万华人)等“国际反华势
力”狼狈为奸。
此外，老吴跟老蒋关系不错，提出让美军守台湾，老蒋派兵去越南剿
共。其实，老吴要是聪明点就该明白，除非美军肯像韩战时一样杀过
北方(冒与中共开战之险)，不然就绝无希望。让咱对比一下：
老吴杀了屈指可数的几个犯法和尚，美国老板就不乐意了，暗地支持
兵变。他的共产党对手就算把和尚杀光，其俄国主子可会皱一下眉头？
敌军可以越界，己方不能越界，这种仗没法打。美俄都吃过苦头。二
十年前阿富汗，“辽阔的巴基斯坦领土是阿富汗回民的可靠后方”，
阿外长试了句“我们的边界经常被侵犯，为什么他们的边界又不可侵
犯”，美国人就说他们要保卫巴基斯坦边界。最后战果，俄军战死一
万，阿回民死于战祸百万(凭记忆)------其实南北越的纯战果也是南
方占优(1：3)-----回教跟马列教一样不把人命当回事，算让俄国人
找到对手了。

He sat very quietly; we all sat very quietly. I can recall
distinctly the clock ticking away on his wall, and his breathing
heavily as he read through the paper, turning to us, the few of

don't believe Diem wants to hold elections; I believe we should
support him in this."
Diem welcomed the weapons and the dollars, but he often resisted
the Americans' advice. He was polite, but he was rigid and proud,
and fiercely nationalistic.
Diem said no to me troops. He needed U.S. support, but he wanted
to keep control, and he wanted to keep the foreigners out.
He and his brother left the palace -- the Gia Long Palace -- and
went in this underground passageway to this Chinese merchant's
house in Cholon, the Chinese section of Saigon. And in the morning
they went into the Roman Catholic Chinese church, and when they
came out there were armed men and an armored car, and they were
pushed into the armoured car and, I believe, shot inside the
armoured car.
