part is very interesting. That is a difference between 党 and 派. According to this standard, we probably should say there are two 派's in US, instead of 党. However, Chinese thinks 派 is within 党 (at leaset in political area), so it's probably hard to understand why two 派 has to compete so hard to be the dominant political power.
Regarding the relation between 思想和语言, I am not sure if 思想 has more impact on 语言, nor 语言 has more impact on 思想, just like chicken-n-egg ...
