It is a vlaue judgement.
Democracy is just an idea that everyone is equal. political system to implement it is the mere materialization of this idea.

All the behaviors are performed on this mental platform as to an individual.

So you might have said that that author should not take it for granted that everyone accepts democracy as ultimate value. There are some who believe in inequlity.

But since the subject is 李敖, then it is nothing wrong if 李敖 admits that everyone shares a common humanity.
