My wildest and most plaussible speculation
I am finally able to get on line today to get a glimps of the latest news.
Holy cow, the people in Taiwan have really gone mad!
Looks like the separatists are going to hang on to power,
thanks to the astray bullets.
(Poor Ludi, he is going to lose his shirt betting on the other camp.)
I beg to differ from all the speculations about the shooting incident as offered by many pundits.
My own wild speculation is this: it is a perfect crime
with an minimal collateral casualty.
The plot: create a most shattering "assassination" incident.
The objective is multiple:
to generate as much last minute public sympathy votes as possible;
to cause as much confusion and cast as much aspersion as possible to the opponents; and
to arouse as much enmity as possible to any potential response from the across the Strait.
The timing: one day before the election to preclude any meaningful investigation which might negate Chen's chance of winning.
The execution: use a weapon which does not "kill";
and aim low to avoid any unintended accidental injury to the apparent "targets".
This is a Machiavellian plot masterminded by one and only person who is totally ruthless and cold blooded enough to plan it; and also powerful enough to order its execution without necessarily obtaining the consent of either Chen or his running mate.
I honestly believe that the reports so far have left many gaping holes to consider any other alterate explaination that could make any sense.
