IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN
The Yangtze River, China, the longest river in Asia and the third longest river in the world. Top: May 20, 2001. Bottom: March 25, 2003. Both images are taken just west of the Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric power project and one of the most controversial. The 'before' image was taken during the dam’s construction before the reservoir was filled. The 'after' image shows the partial filling of the reservoir, including numerous side canyons.
