I guess the point is if one just wants to do calculation, then vague things like "constants" and "variables" and "infinitesimals" are ok.
However if one wants to pin down the rigorous foundation of calculus (which is what we are discussing here, I think), then one needs to be very very careful about what one says and how one says them. Otherwise, we would just be going around in circles, from one logic fallacy to another.
