I was wrong, indeed. A3 and B3 were left out of discussion in 2.1.1
I tried to narrow the 8 balls into groups of 2 balls in one step with three scenarios, balance, balance switched and balance unchanged. It wouldn't work. It seems the solution has to go with two group of 3 balls and one group of two balls with one step left 'cause we can find the odd ball among three.
Perhaps replace three good balls with A1, A2, A3 and swap A4 and B4.
Starting from
A1, A2, A3, A4 - B1, B2, B3, B4 to
G, G, G, B4 - B1, B2, B3, A4
If the balance unchanged, the odd ball is among B1, B2 and B3.
If it becomes balanced, the odd ball is among A1, A2 and A3.
If the balance switched from one side to another, the odd ball is among A4 and B4.
Anyway, this would become the almost same as the known solutions.
