at most of the well-grown country, this is the key to the future.
What matter how the industry developes, the final purpose is to serve the public for better life. People trade for service, health care, education, sports etc.
If China is aiming to manufacturing, it will always behind the world, since we don't spend any money ( or very few ) in research and development, we do not protect copyright of the patent, we do not have a reliable legal system to guide the industry business,...etc. We even can't protect any of national manufaturer, I believe over 70% of the leading Chinese company in manufacturing industry is joint-venture with the global company and they are all foreign brand.
China is a place for manufacturing now, but for the low end only. For high end, there is still a long way.
