99% sure, these ADs are not fake. However, these properties are not desirable assests for anyone, no matter for living or for investment. In America, real estates CAN depreciate, and in the long run(30 years or so), it only covers inflation rate for personal investment.
Those pieces of property in Ohio are located near Cleveland area, which is a dying Metra area. Indiana property are located in Northern part of the state, which is hit hard by the effect of a diminishing Auto industry too. No doubt, the situations in both areas are the consequences of globalization.
In addition, the first principle in resident house is LOCATION in US; only nuts would make transaction without take an investigation on the property; it's no secret that, often than not, foreclosure houses could be deliberately vandalised by former owners; I've seen one dollar tag on real estate in real live as long as buyer pays back log city taxes.
