Japan doesn't have military expenses after WWII. It's not outspoken, but it's impact is hugh.

With all money, Japan can provide virtually every wellfare Americans can't dream of: Medical, Retirement, etc. The direct result is Japanese industries don't have these burdens, they can afford live long employment to their employees and all other stuffs said in your post.
