Ma and Pa Mutualfundie, Joe and Jill Sixpack and Melvin Euphoria are busy plowing their tiny amount of savings into the markets.
Hey, it's a "can't miss" wager! The Dow is at an all-time high (don't tell us about inflation since the last ATH in 2000) and the markets ALWAYS go up!
Don't talk about the record trade deficit, the record current account deficit and the record REAL budget deficit (when the funding shortfalls of entitlement programs and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are added into the bogus budget numbers). All that matters is that the markets are going up and never go down.
Don't talk about the record household debt and the two years of a negative savings rate. Hell, if those things mattered, the markets wouldn't be up every single day! Besides, our buddies at the Nascar track are bullish on the markets.
Don't talk about the $60 TRILLION worth of consumer, corporate and government debt in the U.S. And don't keep mentioning the imploding housing price bubble. The day those itty bitty things have any impact on the markets is the day we will stop watching American Idol!
Don't make rude noises about a slowing economy, about an inverted yield curve, about high energy prices or about overvalued stocks and an overbought market. You're just jealous at how much moola we're making on the markets while we're glued to the latest episodes of Survivor and Dancing with the Stars!
Stop yapping about stagflation, about wages not keeping up with prices, about government statistics being a joke, about the complete lack of corporate governance and about stock market manipulation and non-stop program trading. Who cares about that stuff when we're on the bull market train while we're listening to Rush Limbaugh and while we're all aware that "they" are really greeting us with flowers and that the insurgency is in its final throes.
So put a sock in it, you bearish buffoons! If you keep up all your talk about economic reality, we buy-and-hold investors are gonna go NUKULAR! We know that the secret to a strong economy is to spend more, borrow more and save less! This time it's different!
