Hyunah Yu, soprano, (be sure to click on Hyunah's feature in "Peabody Profiles" at the top of the Peabody Institute Home Page (www.peabody.jhu.edu) --with Dr. Cornett teaching her in the background!). In June, Hyunah was featured on NPR's Performance Today, singing Richard Strauss' Lied "Alphorn." This season Hyunah is singing the title role in Mozart's Zaide for the Mosly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center and the Vienna Festival . The production is directed by Peter Sellars, and moves from Vienna to Amsterdam, then London, and New York. Hyunah, who has three degrees/diplomas from Peabody (BM, MM, and AD), will also be singing a role specially written for her in a new opera by John Adams, commissioned for the opening of Peter Sellar's New Crowned Hope Festival in Vienna. Concert performances will then follow with the Berlin Philharmonic in both Berlin and London. Having appeared as an Artist at the Marboro Festival for the last five seasons, Hyunah will this spring be touring U.S. cities with "Musicians from Marlboro." She recently recorded her second recital broadcast for BBC's Radio 3 Voices program; her first was picked as one of Radio 3's Best of 2004. Hyunah was a 1999 Winner in the Walter Naumburg International Competition, and a Finalist in the Dutch International Vocal Competition and the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. Hyunah is managed by Cannaught Artists (www.connaughtartists.com).
