For whatever reason, ideological or otherwise, Hu is concerned with corruption and the mal-distribution of wealth in the society. He is also a conservative and a realist, so he won’t start something akin to a cultural revolution, but will make an attempt to reign in excesses in the Chinese society. Therefore if your description of Hu is on the mark, he seems to be what China needs at this point.
