Reed, John 1922 authored 'Ten days That shook the world'
2005 press release: Reed, John appointed Chairman of CASBS Board
John Reed, former chairman and CEO of Citicorp and Citibank, has been
elected chairman of the board at the Center for Advanced Study in the
Behavioral Sciences, an independent research center located in Stanford,
California.
Reed served as Chairman of the New York Stock Exchange from September 2003 until April 2005. In April 2000, Reed retired after a thirty-five year career with Citibank, Citicorp and Citigroup. He was elected Chairman and CEO of Citicorp and Citibank in September 1984
Reed is on the boards of Altria, RAND Corporation and MDRC. He also
serves on the Board of MIT, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts
and Sciences, and of the American Philosophical Society.
CASBS is a 50-year-old independent research institution in the foothills
overlooking the Stanford campus. Approximately 40 Fellows are selected
each year to work on research designed to advance knowledge about human behavior. They are leaders in their academic fields and are given the opportunity for interdisciplinary research in a specially designed setting, free of obligations of teaching and administration.
Building independent research institutions in social study is far more urgent than building an independent party outside the ruling communist party. IMHO ( in my humble opinion)
