but too much exaggeration and oversimplification.

The most notable characteristics of those graduates is that they studied very hard, treasuring the opportunity God sent to them. True, their grasp of basics was not as good as the younger generations, but I do not believe this to be so important as the author holds. The Chinese teachers always attach ultimate importance to students' grasp of basics. This is ridiculous. In general, the Chinese students are superior in their grasp of basic knowledge, but not as creative as their Western counterparts.
