For example, Guangzhou historically was a very small town of village style. You could not make a plan or layout of a slow developed city without considering all those obstacles that could not simply be turned down. As a result, the street was built on the old roads.
There is one S-shape street by the name of GuangWei Rd I like it very much, where it used to be a busy trading place for bamboo and bamboo products.
The same is for some old cities in Europe.
