This is too much, pal! You don't have to follow me to another world, do you?
It is pure co-incidence that I picked up the phone and called Cable yesterday. You see, owing to the enormous pressure from my wife, I inserted that damn CD to get connected with the web, but I failed to get registered. Every time I typed in the PIN number, the machine told me it was invalid. So I called the cable, only to be told that the CD was obsolete as it was some one year old. The guy said they were going to send me another CD which is due to arrive this week.
But I am not saying that I will be back. This is purely for my wife. For all my married life, she has been bullying me around. If you are my slave and I am your master, then I am her slave and she my mistress (not lover, but real mistress). As they say in China, the arm can never fight the leg. Hopefully, she would forbid me from touching the computer, as that was part of the deal. In our negotiation, she said,
"Get the computer to be connected, you dirty old sod!"
"You dirty old witch! I am not going to do that."
"And why is that, may I ask?"
"Because once you can access the web, so will I!"
"Who ask you to follow me and get yourself hooked? You are supposed to be an adult, aren't you?"
I have no more to say, but I still refused to carry out her order. In the end, we made a compromise: I will get the damn machine connected whilst she will keep an eye on me so that I won't touch it.
To tell you a little secret: I really don't want to do it. So maybe I can think of a way to fool her. After all, she is not difficult to cheat as she is very honest indeed.
OK, Slave, I feel sad for your departure. May God and I be always with you. If I came back one day (that is a pure hypothesis, which is highly unlikely), I would definitely let you know by asking Lao Chong to convey the message to you (I trust he's got your address).
All the best, my dear friend! Thanks for your company throughout these hard years! You have been always there, for me and with me, for better and worse, through the thick and thin (sounds like we are being married, hehe). For the rest of my life, I will never, ever, forget your anxious call: "Ludi, come out immediately, otherwise we shall run naked as a gesture of petition!" That was shortly after Sep 11, 2001, when I failed to appear in the forum due to a business trip and you thought I had probably been killed.
