The Chinese leader said he and Bush had a "frank exchange of views" on the delicate subject of Taiwan, long a sore point in U.S.-Chinese relations. China considers Taiwan a renegade province that should be reunited with the mainland.
The United States wants China and Taiwan to settle their differences peacefully. Bush said he opposed independence for Taiwan.

Bush was just an error again or he had a deal with Jiang? No U.S. officers used the word "oppose independence for Taiwan" before, they only said "do not support independence for Taiwan" at most.
