A Song At Qiupu*

The hoary hair is ten miles long,
Because the sorrows are as long.
Into mirror, no one knows at all,
There comes from whence the frost of fall.
*Qiupu is the name of a small place where the poet wrote this poem.

I'll arrive in Jiangling a thousand li* away in a day.
As the apes on either bank give the endless cries of dismay,

*li is a Chinese length measurement, equals to 0.5 km.

李白放歌將欲行﹐忽聽岸上踏歌聲。桃花潭水深千尺﹐不及汪倫送我情。

*Lanling is the name of a place.

The beacon fires have held on for a quarter of a year old;
A letter from my home is worth a myriad taels of gold.
My hoary hair becoms shorter and shorter by scratching;

A myriad petals drifting in winds make me sad.
Right before my eyes the flowers will soon be all gone;
Let wine into the mouth, ne'er mind it hurts how bad.
The halcyons build nests on bleak house at the river;
And stone unicons lie at high tombs by a garden.
Thinking the ways things go, one should seek pleasure;
What's the use for floating fame to bind my person?

It's usual in debts for wine ev'rywhere wine's sold;
It's rare in life to live till seventy since time old.

Dragonflies sip on water slowly hovering.
Tell the scenery just tagging along with me,
Don't part now, but enjoying each other transiently.

Gradually the laughter's fading, no more footsteps hearing,
So those with feeling are annoyed by those without feeling.
