尤其是看着这帮叫做北大科的学子们争相攀比谁的母校
毕业生被美国大学录取得多的丑态，再对比方所描写
的他们在911后的那副幸灾乐祸的德性，便怒从心中起，恶向胆边生。今天斗胆将方文译成英文，以便
海内外说各种语言的爱国志士们都能阅读。我知道
方士民是不受本坛许多人欢迎的。但望各位看在
”原则“的面上，容忍一回。我准备将此文=张贴到
英文论坛去。
Declaration of My Principle of Humanism

According to a poll, 80 percent Chinese gleefully cheered for the act of terrorism that occurred in the United States. The percentage is even higher among college students and young intellectuals. Beijing University is not the only institution where on-campus celebration was observed. A student in Tian Jin also wrote to me:” We just watched the live broadcast of this tragic event. Unfortunately, I could hardly hear what was being said on TV since it was submerged in the deafening uproar of the crowd jumping up for joy. Everyone (all of them university students) looked so happy and cheerful. There was not even a slightest trace of the look of grief or anger on their faces”. How pathetic it is that so many young Chinese chose to side with the terrorists. This makes me feel even more helpless and the only thing I can do perhaps is to cry out in despair as Lu Hsun would have done years ago: “Save our children please!”.
After I posted a collection of articles critical of this phenomenon, advices have been given to me as well as admonition, personal attacks, protests and even personal threats. Some people mailed to me their rebuttals and demanded that they be posted on the web forum or else I would be accused of being biased and unfair. I am not impartial, to be sure. I have never even intended to post articles to reflect all sides of opinions on all issues. Some issues are open for debate. But when it comes to the matters of principle, no debate is needed. My principle is one of humanism. This is the truth painfully written by the blood of countless martyrs and innocent people throughout the thousands of years of human civilization and there is no room for debate. I will not post articles that violate this principle nor will I post, or even have an interest in reading, articles (unless for the sake of rebuttal) that advocate or sympathize with racism, fascism, terrorism, chauvinism, ethnic discrimination, gender discrimination, religious superstition, anti-scientism, anti-rationalism, anti-democracy and anti-humanism. Don’t bother to send those articles to me. I know not every one would agree with me on this principle. They would call me “Americans’ favorite running dog”, “Han Jian (traitor of the Han nationality)”, “CIA payroller”, “hypocrite” and “bogus defender of the virtues.”. They would resort to “web-terrorism” against me, express their disappointment at me and request that I not hurt “nationalistic feelings”. They would regret that they didn’t know me better and that they supported me before. They would want to cut ties with me. Well, go ahead. Let’s part on account of different beliefs. As for me, I will do what I believe is right and I know I am not alone.

根据一项民意调查，中国人中百分之八十为发生在美国的恐怖主义行动叫
好。在中国大学生、年轻知识分子中可能更多。在校园里庆祝的也不只是北大
一家。一位天津的大学生写道：“刚刚在宿舍楼道里收看此次悲剧的直播，然
而，我却很难听清电视里的声音，因为周围的欢呼声震耳欲聋！所有人（都是
大学生啊）都是一种欢快庆祝的样子，绝没有一点悲伤和愤怒。”有这么多中
国的年轻人站在恐怖主义者一边，令人痛心疾首，令人欲哭无泪，令人越发感
到还只能像鲁迅先生那样绝望地喊一声“救救孩子！”在登出一组批评这种现
象的稿件后，我收到了许许多多忠告、警告、漫骂、抗议、威胁信。也有不少
人寄来“反驳”文章，要求登出，否则就是有倾向性，不公平。是的，我有倾
向性，也从来没想过在任何问题上都刊登不同的声音。有些问题可以讨论，原
则性的问题则不必讨论。我的原则是人文主义的原则。这是人类文明几千年来，
用无数先烈和无辜者的献血写就的公理，没有讨论的余地。凡是违反这些原则
的稿件，宣扬、同情以下内容的，我都不登（除非是为了驳斥），也无阅读的
兴趣，不必寄来：种族主义、法西斯主义、恐怖主义、沙文主义、民族歧视、
性别歧视、宗教迷信、反科学、反理性、反民主、反人道、反人权。我知道并
不是所有人都同意这些原则。要来骂我是“美国走狗”、“汉奸”、“拿中央
情报局的经费”、“伪君子”、“假道学”，要对我实行“网络恐怖”，要对
我表示失望，要我照顾“民族感情”，表示看错了人，后悔以前支持过我，要
和我断交，都由你。道不同不与谋，虽万千人吾往矣，何况我知道我并不孤单。
