Researcher Lucas Buchanan from Melbourne's Monash University poses in front of the fossilized skull and bones of a new species of pre-historic crocodile that lived in Australia 40 million years ago, February 24, 2005. The remains were discovered last year in an ancient lake bed near Gladstone, 475 miles north of Brisbane in Northern Australia, and differs from modern day crocodiles with extra muscle attachments in the jaw to give a more powerful bite allowing it to slice through food more easily.
