According to the The Economist (July 25th 1998:23)
the following 7 elements are commonly identified as the major components of the Asian Values

• Attachment to the family as an institution
• Deference to societal interest
• Thrift
• Conservatism in social mores
• Respect to authority
• Prize consensus over confrontation
• Emphasise the importance of education

I wish to hear some comments on this, particularly from Lu Di and the Bystander. Many thanks
