100a - CHINESE LIDDED WHITE NEPHRITE HAN DYNASTY VESSEL
This lidded imperial vessel is the largest known to exist worldwide, private estate held. The gorgeous vessel was used as a main service piece to the powerful emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. It shows exquisite chicken bone degradation across the top of the squash form handle, the Chih Lung Dragons and areas around the bottom Tao Tei legs, which comes from the highest tier level burial within the emperor’s tomb, for a minimum 1000-2000 years. Also shows gorgeous crystallization area and white velvety degradation throughout its beautiful patterns of the main frame carved Chu style Feng Huangs, often referred to as the red bird of the south, or phoenix. The basic form of the lid emulates the body with the four lobes. As mentioned, it has the classic Chih Lung dragons form as its handles, with the rounded full bodies and short curly tails, particular to the Warring States and Han Period vessels. The basic form of the lid also emulates the body with the four lobes, with inward side slopes to a flat top, leading to the top pedestal, with its squash form handle. This rare vessel stands 11" (27.9cm) top to bottom with lid. It measures 11 1/2" (29.2cm) end to end and 5" (12.7cm) side to side depth. Total jade weight: 5,913 grams. Provenance: W.Y.T. (Tsao) family 1951-1969, California, descendants of W.Y.T. family to H.M. Family 1969-1997. H.M. Family to W.T.Y. (1997-2003). WTY to FMC (2003-2012). Transfer documents in 2012 to Mammoth Museum of Jade & Archaeological Treasures, with a list of exhibit displays for many years past, which includes an invitation only, blue ribbon display (documented with photos), at the world known Ancient Gem & Mineral Show, in which it was displayed in a showing beside of other notable displays from the Smithsonian & The American Natural History Museum. A fabulous, once in many lifetimes opportunity piece, includes Authentication and Appraisal by Dr. Carl Vincent and jade expert Tanya Vincent, Antique Dragon Appraisals, Redding, CA., October 10, 2012. Conservative appraisal value of 3.7 to 4.2 million dollars. Includes appraisal and authentication by Timothy Jones, Ph.D. IAA stating value of 6 to 10 million dollars at a U.S. auction comparison and much higher in an auction located within China. This piece has had professional, extensive scientific microscopic studies performed by Ph.D. Archaeologist Timothy Jones as well as three other Ivy League and Jade Expert individuals, further proving its authenticity. By degradation penetrating through the jade and ancient type core drill and tooling marks on the inside of the vessel, evidenced by the characteristics of tools that would have only been used in those ancient dynasty periods. Microscopic studies were done under 40x plus magnification of which were are including a few samples of the numerous documents. This is also evidenced by photograph 5. Sampling of certifications and authentications can be seen in the photographs. Complete documents and additional information is available upon request.
