my grandfather, my father's father, was in the communist camp. his job was pretty much like an account. he was very old, compared with other commies. he just wanted a job. he thought commies were just as yun da tou or japanese. they just came there to rule.
he told me the story of Ding Shu Ben.
commie stabbed Ding on his back when he was fighting japanese. Ding survived and fled. he was just lucky. however, he wanted revenge on the commies. after japanese gone and the civil war broke out, he came back.
Ding's territory was mostly in the north of the yellow river, where the commies were strong. after several battles, he lost all his 4 counties north of the yellow river. he fled, with most of his people , to a small city on the south bank of the river, Dong Ming.
he claimed he would not fled anymore. "i will die here"
