The name of bungalow colony seems related to Catskill area of Sullivan County, NY, where I was today. There are a lot of bungalow colonies everywhere, resided by Jewish Rabbis from Brooklyn in the summer time, and the area is also called Borscht Belt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borscht_Belt, the orthodox Jews summer resort.
I began to search for the meaning of "bungalow colony". It turned out it actually means "terraced house". No idea why "bungalow colony" is apparently associated with Catskill region.
Well, Americans don't say "terraced house" that is referred to in England as the houses connected in a row. Americans say "town house" instead, which is actually the "city hall or Mayor's office" in England.
