every Christian is, without exception, the end (actualization and being
and abolisher) of all socialism and communism ideals.
On my last visit of this planet, i introduced John Ruskin and recommend
interested partisans to read his most controversial political writing 'Unto
this Last', a vehement protest against the rise of industrial and inhuman
power. John Ruskin once claimed that he is both a Communist and a Tory.
Today, I'd like to introduce Karl Barth, a theologian and a socialist
inseparable. I learned about Karl Barth through this book 'Karl Barth and
Radical Politics' edited and translated by George Hunsinger with several
other contributors.
My revelation that 'every Christian (self-proclaimed or not) is, without
exception, the end (actualization and being and abolisher) of all socialism
and communism ideals' did not come from any books i've read. It came from
being a victim overcoming the terror of being victimized by another
person's act and right to obtain his freedom at the cost of my very own.
Once i see that his struggle is part of my very own, our 'life and death, to be or not to be' conflicts at individual level dissolved into love,
understanding and mutual support as one unison with no sacrificial
leftovers on each part. This person and I survived as equal individuals
in our relationship yet i am still uncertain that our pact can survive in much
larger social context. But as long as i see that uncertainty is the beauty
and terror of life itself, hope is granted by grace and compassion from other
individuals, i shall have no fear.
I am not a born Christian. I consider myself an atheist inherited my
state of being from my parents in their time and that society. I have not
surrendered my belief in socialism and communism. The more i absorb
Christianity the more it strengthens my own inheritance. At the same time,
for all my children and among my witnesses, my wish is that they preach
not socialism or communism but they BE the end of idealism and they BE new
beings of revelation and wisdom in all human exchange small and large.
