China is only a developing country with a little bit over $1000 GDP per capita. This space project has nothing to do with ordinary people's daily life. The project itself only probably will cost China $20 per person and it will cost much more down the road.
This is only a show and it is way too expensive. There are so many better ways to spend the money, such as education, medication, social security, food safty, environmental improvement, cultural development, rural development, even drinking water shortage, emergency health care,..., you name it. Chinese government has claimed short on money for these kinds of things for long time. But they have money for this kind of facial project that dose nothing good in near term to these poor countrymen who are longing for safe food and clean water to feed themselves and their children.
Since it is only a show, Chinese government would fully use the value of the thing to make themselves look great and that is the whole point. This is the so called Facial Project. The central government has called for being realistic on the economic development, especially on the local government’s spending. Now, the central government itself shoot a bigger bubbal to the sky and made a bigger noise in the whole country. It will unleash all local governments to follow its example. I have no clue what kind of smart reasoning this is all about. So the only thing I figured and makes sense to me is that only central government has rights to do things they want and they like. What they have said and what they have done has no correlation at all.
