狼协:
I saw your letter yesterday, but unfortunately, I could not read it as it is in Chinese. So I had to copy it onto a floppy disk and take it home to read it there. It happened that I did not have a blank disk at hand yesterday. That's is why I did not respond. I have just copied it today, so I will give you a reply tomorrow.
2u2m:
I did go to the place where you advised me not to (BTW, if you did not want me to go, what's the point of giving me the link? Do you also believe "hypocrisy is also a virtue"?). But I could not read anything because as you know so well, I am purposely, deliberately, and artificially blind. The only reason I went there was to find out whether it was this web site or not. From the format, I could judge it was "sai shang ke zhan" (Gossip Corner for Low Lives). Why should I bother with this kind of place and this kind of people? I have already degraded enough.
I wonder if I could ask you a great favor. A moment ago, I went downstairs and found that not only the Chinese version of my play was deleted, but some parts (Part 4 and Part 6) of the English version also went into the drainage. This is the last straw that breaks camel's back. So I decided to post up the Chinese version onto all the Chinese web sites. The problem is that in order to do that, I would have to reinstall the Chinese software, which is against my will.
So Old 2 or Little 2, could you please give me a link to Dajia Luntan (Everyone's Forum )? Then tomorrow I will post up the Chinese version there. After that, can you please re-post it onto every Chinese web site that you happen to know? I would not have asked such a great favor, had I not removed all the web sites from the bookmarks of the Netscape installed in my computer here. Although the bookmarks remain unchanged in the computer at home, it is disconnected. Anyway, I know this is too much to ask. So it would be perfectly alright if you reject or ignore my request.
Talking about the play, I am not very happy with the Chinese version. It does not read as amusing as the English version. It is very odd that I have a pretty good command of both Chinese and English, but I cannot translate satisfactorily. I first detected this defect of my linguistic gifts while I was translating my English autobiographies.
Wacky:
You distress me by giving up your struggle against the hated Hotline. How could you be disheartened so easily? You let me down, man! I had expected you to beat him into submission. Now you are giving up! How could you? Don't you feel ashamed of yourself? Be brave! Use your rolver if necessary.
On the other hand, I am delighted to see you are making great progress. Your English is getting better every day and the click rates of your poster shoot up. Now you got more than 100 clicks, three times as high as mine. Congratulations, sweetie!
Besides, it seems that you have a great sense of humor as well. Moments ago, I read your poster that I had missed. It goes:
"It is very difficult for me even to be an idiot, may be i am alredy an idiot or stupido, but not an distinguished one.
I am an idiot. I found plenty of people much more stupid than me. (2/7/2003 09:11 [Click:27])"
This is really funny, honey. And you are absolutely right here. Being an idiot is not difficult at all. The most difficult thing is to be an extraordinary idiot displaying phenomenal and spectacular idiocy, like the professor and the girl in my play. That's really the ultimate height that no ordinary people can ever reach, no matter how hard they have tried. I name this kind of idiocy "master-idiocy" or "genius-idiocy", for it represents the extremely low frequency for such creatures to be found. In this sense, we are so lucky as to have witnessed such walking and speaking wonders.
Your comment on Jiu Jie's humble request is also excellent and has given me a really good laugh.
He begs:
"Lu Di, pull out my stake, please
because it tortures me, if I do not try my best to comfort it.
It simply absorbs my wealth ( 2/26/2003 14:24 [Click:40]). (Please note, this is the so-called English master's masterpiece-Ludi)
You answer:
"You are too stupid to have any."
Exactly! Straight to the point! Not everyone has it, nor does everyone need it. The stake is actually created by the person. In order to have it, the person has to be smart enough to feel that need in the first place. I don't think Jiu Jie's intelligence is this high. Neither do I believe he has any conscience or feels any need for it.
