A few words to the Web Masters and the readers

芦笛

Yesterday I came briefly and noticed that the Chinese version of my play had been deleted. I do not really mind though I believe the action was very unwise. First of all, the play has violated no rules at all. It was a fiction based on a real story. It did not mention any names of the speakers active in this BBS, it did not use any obscene language and above all, there were only sarcasm but no personal attack. Secondly, given my impulsive character, the Web Master had forgotten that the deletion might prompt me to post it up to all the major BBS and thus augment the influence. Had it stayed here, there would have been at most 200 people who read it. But if it were posted up to all the major BBS, then the number would be increased dramatically. I am quite surprised as to how the Web Master could fail to see that possibility.

Actually, I know people do enjoy this kind of stuff. The play "Sketch of The Clowns" (qun chou tu) was posted up by some readers using my name again and again for quite a few times. So if I posted up to a major BBS, I am dead sure loads of people would be amused and it would be copied and saved by fans and circulated between BBS for a long time even after my retirement.

But I am not going to do that, of course. The sole purpose of my writing that play is to demonstrate to everyone WHO IS THE REAL PLAYER (wan jia).

The shame of the Chinese BBS is that there are lots of wan jia, who cannot write anything, but are full of energy of harassing serious writers. Their justification, loved and repeated many times by a Web Master of this BBS, is that "we all come here for fun, so we are entitled to have some fun by playing with others." Now I am showing them that I did not play with anybody, not because I had no such ability or the sickening "sense of humor", but because I had been restraining myself. I dare say that I am a real master, as a matter of fact, the number 1 master in this kind of evil activity. In my youth, I was the faithful disciple of Lu Xun and thus grasped and developed his art of insulting people. Had he been alive today, we might have had a real fight, but not with those second rate wan jia.

If anyone does not believe me, go read the piece "The Great Saint Awaits Acknowledgements by the Master" (da shanren jidai gaoshou chengren). In there, I did not use any directly insulting words and I had not twisted his meaning, not to mention calling him nasty names as he had done to me. I played by the rules so skillfully that no Web Master could ever delete it, and yet, it is the most hurtful piece I have ever written since I started writing in BBS.

After I finished the Chinese version of the play, I recalled the accusation made by the professor that I was a criminal of "personality assassination". Then I asked myself whether I had committed that crime. After long thingking, I concluded, once again, that the so-called "personality assassination" is a great invention by the professor to suppress free discussions and criticisms in the BBS, even more powerful that those invented by the communists. Nonetheless, I did assassinate something. Instead of their personalities, I "assassinated" their credibility. I don't think any reader who has read the play will ever take them seriously anymore. But I did not make up or twist anything. All I did was presenting the truth in a way that highlights the incredible idiocy exposed in their messy or even chaotic thoughts. Besides, they HAD ASKED FOR IT. My only regret is that I should have done this much earlier. Had I done that, perhaps fewer people would have harassed me and I would thus have had more time to write serious articles.

Anyway, the tragedy is that the egg did not know it was provoking a rock. Now it knows and would think twice before provoking me again in the future, if I fail to quit the web.

Now some replies to the readers.

Jia Ren: I had seen the title of your poster which was to have a chat with me, but I had no time to read it. Can you translate it into English and post up again? Now I can only read and write in English. You keep saying that you want to improve your English, and now here is the opportunity.

Huaiyi: Your comment is the only one I had time to read. Thank you very much for your encouragement. I am afraid I must leave as I had wasted too much time in BBS. My new year resolution of this year is to get my English autobiography published and to start contributing to magazines and newspapers so as to become a real writer, not a phony one like before. So I am afraid I would have let you down. Sorry about that.

As for the matter of "moral criticism" I criticized in that piece, it was my fault that I did not elaborate clearly enough. The moral criticism is only wrong when it is used in fields where it should not be used. Therefore, if one uses it in a political debate, the action itself is immoral. But one can and should use it to condemn immoral behaviors such as those of wan jia. The irony is that most Chinese "intellectuals" are never able to tell where it should be used. So they always use it in a wrong place, condemning those with different political opinions as immoral whilst praising those wan jia who shows no respect to any decency.

Finally, my I say that it is my pleasure and privilege writing in this BBS despite the unpleasant background noise. I apologize for the trouble I have brought to the Web Masters and thank you very much for your protection.
