A free basic English lesson for Mr ldwlw

芦笛

I have just read Mr ldwlw's piece and am amazed at the fact that it is at all possible to make so many mistakes in such a short and simple piece. You may not believe it, but every single sentence in that poster is wrong! Like Mr ldwlw, I would like to ask:

WHAT KIND OF ENGLISH IS THIS? Is it spoken in Mars?

Now allow me to correct every sentence for you, my dear Mr ldwlw:

"What a person Zhang Hong Bao is "

Is this an exclamation or a question? Looks like a question. So it should be "what is Zhang Hongbao", or "who is this Zhang Hongbao" or "what kind of person is this Zhang Hongbao", depending on the context.

"as early as 1992,"

As early as IN 1992,

"In China I happened to meet a gangster of persons who claimed to be

followers of Zhang Hong Bao and playing lots QI GONGs."

when I was still in China, I ran across a group of people who claimed to be Zhang Hongbao's disciples and practiced qigong a lot.

You can never use "a gangster of", but you can use "a gang of". The words connected by "and" should be equivalents. So it is absurd to write "claimed and playing". Besides, nobody can "play" qigong. It's for practicing, not playing.

"I think they are out-of-law gangsters, like those you can find in many train

stations who are playing poker card to bet on the ground."

I believe they were outlaws or gangsters, like those whom you could find in many train stations, playing poker on the ground.

Here the word "they" means the group of people that you met in 1992, so you cannot use present tense. "Out-of-law" is certainly a great contribution you have made single-handedly to English. People normally say "outlaws", which is a noun, not an adjective. Without "whom", the clause that "you can find" would have no object. "Poker" is a game, there is no card that is called "pokers card".

"They made up story to let people believe they are almost Jesus."

They made up stories in order to make people believe they were gods.

For the sake of everyone's health, could you please be kind enough to get a Chinese software? It won't cost you a cent. I firmly believe that if you do this, the life-expectancies of the readers can be increased a great deal. Thanks a lot!
