Notice for Lao Jia
芦笛
Again, I have to write this in my office and as you said before, I have been "castrated", so that I cannot even recognize my own body. Also, I have to cut my name from an old article and paste it onto this article, then post it up blindly, hoping I will get everything right.
Plus Slave, I have been worried you are offended ever since I put up that poster and then read your angry reply which calls, quite solemnly I must say, all slaves across the world to stand up and overthrow their masters. Despite your coarse appearance, I know you are actually very sensitive and vulnerable, even to the degree of being fragile. It has become the unspoken law that you can tease and mock your master, who is able to see through people's real intentions and thus is much tougher and more agreeable, but your master cannot do the same to you. Every time I venture to do so, I will be worried to death afterwards, fearing that you will take it for a malicious attack. It is really like walking on thin ice, never knowing when the ice will crack.
What a kind of "master-slave" relationship this is! There is nothing more weird than this relationship: the master has to watch his step all the time while the slave enjoys all kinds of freedom, including the one to inform the public in the master's "own words" that he has castrated himself. You are certainly the first person in this world who has made "slave" an enviable and privileged social status! I wish we could exchange our positions, with you being the master and me the slave. But again, I know you will never allow me to resign. This is another spectacle created by you. Before you, nobody would imagine that being a slave could be something enviable! Neither would anyone dream that it could be the master, not the slave, who cried for getting rid of the yoke of the slavery! (Or should I say "mastery" ?)
Well, this is not what I really want to say. I just want to tell you that I am sorry if you take that joke for an offence. I really want to read your book and I promise to buy a copy when it is published. Also, I would like to make up for my joke by writing an introduction or foreword for that book. Needless to say, this offer only stands if you DO want me to do so.
Have a nice day, de facto Master!
