The title is "East Asian orthography curbs creativity."
Orthograph means spelling. So, the title, in plain English is "East Asian spelling curbs creativity." Spelling is related to reading and writing. How spelling can curb creativity in beyond my logic.
Let me be more specific. Does spelling curbs creativity in drawing? Does spelling curbs creativity in mathematics? Does spelling curb creativity in music? If so, where are the evidences? And what is the logic?
How about sciences? Let us look at some well known Eureka moments in sciences. Euclide invented geometry. How did inventing geometry related to spelling? How about Archimeda? How did he discovery related to spelling? How about the guy who discovered the molecular structure of benzene? How did his dreaming a snaking swallowing its tail related to spelling? How did Einstein's discovering relativity related to spelling?
May be the author had something more specific in mind. Namely, East Asian spelling curbs creativity in language. Of course, only someone who has really mastered the language beyond the average native speaker can say something like that.
Anyway, assume the article is not fabricated, why not provide more information on the source?
