It is important to promote denmocracy in a realistic way. However, international pressure can be a useful legerage as well, if the government does considers the interest of the people. The argument that this leverage is useless is only valid if the rulers are a bundle of heartless assholes who only looking after their own interests.
The complexity is how to define what is realistic. The trap for these outside China is that they cannot get the right feeling of the far-away reality.
Anyway, do take care of your health, that is important in more ways than one.
