This is why China is still in a jam today. Look at the American Revolution. Among the founding fathers of the United States, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin were both Renaissance men. George Washington spent his life improving his character. James Madison drafted the most enlightened constitution. Yet, they succeeded.
Yes, many of them owned black slaves, but they were not ignorant mafia bosses the likes of Mao and ZhuYuanZhang. It is truly sad that, in China, only mafia bosses can succeed. This is not surprising because most Chinese still live in Middle Ages.
