Can respirators other than N95 be used to help reduce exposures to biological agents?

WHO and CDC have recommended NIOSH-certified N95 respirators for healthcare workers. NIOSH R95, P95, R99, P99, N100 and P100 all offer the same or higher filter efficiency. Other national approvals/certifications exist, but WHO and the CDC have not recommended their use as of April 7, 2003.
